ICETE-WINSYS 2012

Rome, Italy, 23-27 July 2012

A delegation of the F2F project from the University of Vigo have attended the International Conference on Wireless Information Networks and Systems (ICETE-WINSYS) in Rome, from 23th to 27th July.

WINSYS 2012 provides an international forum for reporting progress and recent advances in different aspects of wireless communications. This includes wireless sensor networks, related to the work of Radio System Group in sensing vineyards for the wine pilot, and also RFID, related to the complete project and the pilot at the winery of Vitivinicola di Ribeiro.

The first paper presented by prof. by Iñigo Cuiñas describes the measurements about readability around RFID labels on wine bottles:

Isabel Expósito, Iñigo Cuiñas, Paula Gómez, “Using radio frequency identification technology to track individual wine bottles”, WINSYS 2012, Internacional Conference on Wíreless Information Networks and Systems, Rome (Italy), 2012.

The second paper describes the deployment of WSN and RFID in the wine pilot at Ribadavia (Spain), also presented by prof. Iñigo Cuiñas:

Iñigo Cuiñas, Isabel Expósito, José Antonio Gay-Fernández, Ana V. Alejos, Manuel G. Sánchez, “From Farm to Fork: Traceability based on RFID. A proposal for complete traceability in the wine sector”, WINSYS 2012, Internacional Conference on Wíreless Information Networks and Systems, Rome (Italy), 2012.

The objective has been to show the participants in such international conference the development of the WSN at vineyards and RFID at wineries, as well as the problems and lessons learned during the deployment and operation of the RFID trials around wine bottles.
